Obituary

Mark Alan Eccles, 59, was born on May 30, 1965 in Oklahoma City to parents LaVern and Gail (Warren) Eccles. He was the youngest of their three children. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 29, 2024 in Oklahoma City, OK. Mark graduated from Putnam City High School in 1983. After graduation, he attended the University of Oklahoma where he majored in Business Administration, receiving his bachelor's degree in 1987. While attending the University of Oklahoma he was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity.

Over the course of the next five years, he worked at American Trailers Manufacturing as a sales representative where his duties included contacting cattle transport companies to sell semi-trailers. Following his employment there, he worked at Union Bank as a Courier and Facilities Manager. As the Bank Courier, Mark interacted with everyone in the bank. Mark had a quiet and undemanding personality. His dry wit and great sense of humor made him a favorite in every department. He had an open invitation to department meetings, birthday celebrations, and bank events. While technology took over the need for in-person courier services, it could never replace Mark's easy-going personality. Following the need for in-person courier service, he became the bank's Facilities Manager where he oversaw the maintenance and repairs of the physical plant property.

Mark was an avid sports fan, particularly OU football. He enjoyed watching the Food Network and making new recipes. He was a skilled gardener who enjoyed working in his flowerbeds and researching how to care for various plants. Mark inherited his sister's parrot, Coco. He spent a lot of time researching how to care for her and thoroughly enjoyed her company.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, LaVern Eccles; sister, Vickie (Eccles) Hill; and Bruce Rice. He is survived by his mother, Gail Eccles-Rice of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, Roger Eccles and wife Sue of Bethany, OK; niece, Erin (Eccles) Williams and husband Marvin and their children, Reagann and Deacon Williams of Collinsville, OK; nephew, Ryan Eccles and wife Lindy and their children, Rylan, Corbyn and Lily Eccles of Yukon, OK; brother-in-law, Ken Hill of Mahwah, NJ; niece, Miranda (Hill) Noonan and wife Megan Noonan of Chicopee, MA.

The family wishes to thank Dr. William Nechtow and Dr. Miranda McGhee for their unrelenting care over the course of this last year and the ICU nurses and doctors who cared for him in his last days. The family also wishes to thank the nurses at St. Ann's Skilled Nursing Facility for the wonderful care they gave Mark.
