Obituary

Mark Allen "Duck" Dempsey, 56, died December 17, 2022. He was born September 28, 1966 in Oklahoma City to Jack and Joyce (Gordon) Dempsey. Mark graduated from Putnam City West in 1985 then went to SNU where he pursued having fun rather than an education, and where he made many lifetime friends. Mark never married. He worked as a 911 dispatcher for the Bethany Police Department. Prior to that, he worked for Tandy Leather in Amarillo for 6 years, also SNU security, Putnam City bus driver, and Diffees as a teen. Mark was a member of Mustang First Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed fishing at Lake Overholser and any other body of water he came across. He enjoyed watching the SNU girls basketball. He made a weekly trip to Kens Steakhouse in Amber for over 30 years. His favorite baseball player was Johnny Bench, whom he met on several occasions. His favorite race care driver was (no surprise) Richard Petty. Mark was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Steve; sister-in-law, Audrey; and niece, Terra. Survivors include his sister, Rhonda and brother-in-law, Garry; nephew, Kyle and wife Molly, Ozzie, Sydney, Jonathan, and Tim; niece, Detta; four-legged niece and nephew, Nelly and Ernie; and many wonderful aunts, uncles, and cousins. Viewing will be Friday, 2-8pm with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be 2:00pm, Tuesday, December 27, at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Spring Creek Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the SNU Athletic department, Womens basketball team, or the American Diabetes Association. Thank you to Travis Ford, Marks best friend since the 5th grade. Youve gone above and beyond in many ways over the years. Thank you to Larry and Nelda Hunter for your prayers and visiting Mark on many occasions. You always made his day. The family would like to thank the nurses and aids at Noble Health Care Center and Ranchwood Nursing Center, and the doctors, nurses, and aids at Integris Baptist and Integris Southwest for the excellent care they provided over the last 18 months. And, especially to Dr. Dean Brown and Ronnie (Ronda) McMahan, thank you for your love, kindness, patience, support and understanding over the past 8 months. You truly are the best. If you are diabetic, please take care of yourself. . Visitation with Family Present Mercer-Adams Chapel Friday, December 23, 2022 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM 3925 N.
