Marjorie M. Porter was born on October 29, 1928, in Colorado City, Texas to Albert and Benny Oglesby. Went to be with our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 24, 2019 at the age of 90.
Margie, as she liked to be called, married her high school sweetheart, Sammie W. Porter, on August 8, 1947. They both attended Forsan High School in Forsan, Texas.
Margie worked in the Forsan High School office. Attended West Texas State for 2 years. Substituted in Pampa, Texas with special education students, worked for Duncan High School Administrations office, and the Green Stamp Store in Oklahoma City.
Margie loved playing golf with all her friends at Twin Hills Country Club in OKC. She loved dressing up and never left the house without her makeup on. When she would go visit her sister, Gwen, she made sure Gwen had her makeup on at all times also. Margie loved all kinds of music. She and Sammie loved to go country and western dancing. Margie also played the piano for the local Baptist Church when in Forsan, TX.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Sammie W. Porter of 65 years; sisters, Betty Cota and Gwen Rippy; brother, Albert Oglesby, Jr.; and parents. She is survived by 2 daughters Mary Burum and her husband Darrell, and Diana Porter. She has 2 grandsons, Brandon Burum and wife Christy & Vance Burum and wife Tanya; 5 great grands, Austin, Blaise, Krystian, Allee, and Sidney Burum.
Graveside services will be Monday, July 29, 10:00am in Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
