Obituary

Marjorie Ellen Biggs was born January 29, 1934 in Olton, Texas, to Van and Eula Mae (High) Harrod. She grew up in Olton and graduated as the Olton High School valedictorian in 1950. After high school she attended Bethany-Penial College. At BPC, she was active in the Mission Band, having felt God's call to missions at an early age. There she met the love of her life, George Biggs. She graduated summa cum laude from BPC in 1954, and then received her Master's in Early Childhood Development at the University of Texas Austin. In 1956, Marjorie married her sweetheart, George. Together they devoted their lives to faithfully following God and serving others. They helped plant new churches, served as missionaries for 11 years at Caribbean Nazarene Theological College in Trinidad, West Indies, and later taught at Southern Nazarene University. The doors of their home were always open to students at any time of day or night. Their lives exemplified Christ's compassionate character. Marjorie had diverse interests. She excelled at writing, sewing, cooking, and bookkeeping to the penny. She enjoyed music, puzzles and reading. Her favorite book was the Bible which she had read yearly since the age of eight. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents and older sister and husband, Vanita and (Kenneth) Merrill. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, George; sons, Dan (Kendra) Biggs, and John Biggs; daughter, Carol (Mason) Lawrence; brother, Duane (BJ) Harrod; sisters, Betty (Ed) Stilley, Joye (Gary) Meeker, and Jackie (Dennis) Fowler; grandchildren, Dana, Daniel, Jennifer, Rachel, David, Mark and Paul; and great-grandchildren, Josie, Jessica, Matthew, Thane, Isaiah, Maggie, Titus, Thaddaeus, Josiah, James and Asher.
