Obituary

Marjorie Lou Barrow was born on March 9, 1934, to Leonard and Edna Etchieson in Hickory, Oklahoma. Throughout her life she was proud to have been raised on a farm and in a rural and Christian lifestyle. Gardening and family were always her greatest loves.

Since her older brother, Jim, was in bad health when she was born, Margie was primarily under the care of her sister Anna and remained intensely close to her throughout the rest of her life until Anna's passing in 2019. She fondly remembered playing games with her younger brother, Ed, feeding her chickens, and enjoying the love and support within her small community.

After graduating high school (where she served as cheerleader and loved typing class) she lived in the YMCA in Oklahoma City and worked as a phone operator. It was one night after work she met the love of her life, Private James Barrow. In 1954, he went AWOL to marry her and paid for it with quite a few hours of KP. Many years later, after he retired, he resumed his KP duties at home in an effort to calm her unending fears and complete her many tasks. It was in these years that she probably found the happiest times of her life traveling with Jim and friends to Hawaii and Israel.

Together they raised 3 children, quite a few pets, as well as endless summer gardens and flowerbeds. She worked briefly at the Putnam City West High School cafeteria, but was primarily a housewife and mother.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents; and her precious sister, Anna. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, James; sons, Doug (Caroline) Barrow and David Barrow; her daughter, Becky (Jack) Trammell; grandchildren, Jonathan (Jessica) Barrow, Lena Barrow, Matt (Patti) Trammell and Katy Trammell; 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Today she is enjoying working a heavenly garden with her daddy and telling Jesus exactly what He's supposed to do at His second coming.
