Marion Leon Barton was called home to rest on August 21, 2022 following an unforeseen and unfortunate sudden decline in health. He was surrounded and supported by loving family members and caregivers during the last days of his life.
Leon was born on January 26, 1938 to Herman V. and Bertie Mae Barton in Bethany, OK. He grew up in Bethany & Newalla, OK on a farm where he loved to farm and fish. Throughout the years he went to Bethany schools and during his early years, worked construction with his dads business, H.V. Barton & Sons Construction. As he continued on his journey, he married a few times and had his children; two boys and two girls. He then went on to become a 32nd degree Mason and also a Shriner for the India Temple Mounted Patrol.
Leon was easily liked and loved by almost everyone who was blessed to know him. He always had a kind and caring nature that captured the hearts of many who were blessed to know him.
Leon was a supporter, a provider, a friend, a listener, and a strong shoulder for you to lean on. He was a great father who really enjoyed being involved in coaching his daughters softball team when needed and being her rock when a boy would make her cry. He was a breath of fresh air.
He always tried to help others and close members of his family when needed. Leon loved his family and he will surely be missed.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Herman V. and Bertie Mae Barton; his wife, Ellen Pat Barton; brothers, Burt and Steve Barton; sister and her husband, Jackie and Kenny Hobgood; grandsons, Steven Knerlerand, Zack Hedrick and Mela Huher.
Leon is survived by brother, Ronnie (Fannie) Barton; children, Rusty and Darla Barton, Doyle and Mitzi Barton, Tina Austin, Shelly Phillips; grandchildren, Cindy Dulier, Joseph Barton, Chrissy Barton, Christopher Barton, Kent of the home, Wesley Austin, Miles Phillips and Mason Phillips; eighteen great-grandchildren; as well as numerous family members and friends.
A piece of us left the Day God called you home. Amen.
