Obituary

Marilyn B. Duke, of Oklahoma City, passed away on July 14, 2019. Marilyn was born on December 10, 1933 in Pittston, PA to John "Butch" McHale and Mildred Tracy. She graduated in 1951 from St. John the Evangelist High School in Pittston, PA and went on to receive her Bachelor of Nursing Education degree from College Misericordia (Misericordia University) in Dallas, PA. She completed her nursing certification at the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Wilkes-Barre, PA in 1956. Marilyn was registered and practiced nursing in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Oklahoma. She married Harry J. Duke, Jr. of Pittston, PA in 1957 and was married for 53 years until his passing in 2011. Together, they raised a family of seven children while residing in New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, New Jersey and Oklahoma. After a long day of seeing to the care of others and her family, Marilyn enjoyed relaxing with a nice crossword puzzle accompanied by a Beefeater martini straight up with a twist! Marilyn is survived by her children Mary Ellen, Harry J. III, Catherine Morehouse, Martin, Brian and Charles; her grandchildren Christopher, Shannon, Hannah, Megan and Aiden; and recently arrived great-grandchild Amelia. She is also survived by her siblings Millie, Cathy, and Joe. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Lil, brothers Johnny and Tracy, her husband Harry Jr., and son Christopher. Viewing will be 9am-9pm Wednesday with a wake service at 7pm Wednesday, July 24 at Mercer-Adams Chapel, 3925 N. Asbury in Bethany, OK. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am Thursday, July 25 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 5024 N. Grove, Oklahoma City, OK. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
