Marillyn B. Svejkovsky was born in Dallas, Texas on February 16, 1932 to George W. Brown, Sr. and Christena Cozart Brown. Her father worked as a mechanic for an oil company, which resulted in the family moving often. In 1943, they moved to Oklahoma City where Marillyn attended Webster Jr. High and graduated from Central High School in 1949. She attended the University of Oklahoma for two years before marrying Bill R. Svejkovsky on May 26, 1951. They had two children: son, David and daughter, Janet. Marillyn was an excellent china painter and loved collecting primitive antiques. She and Bill made many trips in search of antiques. Subsequently, she opened a successful antique and gift store, Country Temptations, where she spent many happy years doing what she loved. Marillyn was a long-time, active member of Metropolitan Baptist Church. She attended faithfully until her health began declining. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, always ready to do for others. Her sweet and gracious manner was evident to all and she was loved by many. Marillyn was preceded in death by Bill, her husband of 48 years; her parents; her brother, George; and one grandson, Seth Dorrell. She is survived by her son, David and wife Tammie of Mooreland, Oklahoma; her daughter, Janet Dorrell and husband Jimmy of Waco, Texas; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Juanita Brown; brother-in-law, Don Svejkovsky and wife Mary Jane; brother-in-law, Paul Svejkovsky and wife Sue; a dear cousin, Vernadean Poe and husband Wellon; and many nieces and nephews. Marillyn was a faithful and obedient servant to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and now is with Him forever. Visitation is Monday, March 24, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. Services will be Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Metropolitan Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Mission Waco/Mission World in Waco, Texas.
