Obituary

Dolores Marie Hall Ray Taylor, 87, died Sept. 29, 2017 in Paris, Texas. She was born September 9, 1930 in Duncan, Oklahoma to William E. and Cecil Augustus Hall and graduated from Duncan High School. She married Carl Willard "Bill" Ray on April 14, 1949 at Duncan First Church of the Nazarene. Marie and Bill had known each other since elementary school and when they married he worked at Skelly Oil Company in Velma, Oklahoma. He later was called to the ministry and began preaching at the Comanche, Oklahoma Church of the Nazarene. A lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene, Marie and her husband pastored churches in Comanche and Erick, Oklahoma, Shreveport, La., and in Hillsboro, Hereford, Whitney and Borger Texas. Bill preceded her in death in 1989. She married Emmett Taylor, an evangelist in the Church of the Nazarene, in 1992. They lived in Bethany and attended Calvary Church of the Nazarene where Marie remained a member until her death. Emmett died in 2014 after 22 years of marriage. Marie was an author, writer and musician. She was a beloved Sunday School teacher and counselor and for years helped lead Senior Adult Ministries on the Southwest Oklahoma District Church of the Nazarene. She also taught Vacation Bible School each summer. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald Hall and Kelton Hall; and two former husbands, Carl W. "Bill" Ray and Emmett Taylor. Survivors include two children, Kathy Steed and her husband Jacky, of Paris, Texas, and Steve Ray, of Corpus Christi, Texas; three granddaughters, Misty Steed of Oklahoma City, Renea Hernandez of San Antonio and Keisha Cooper of Indianapolis, Indiana; three grandsons, Mitch Ray, Jordan Leveritt and Daniel Leveritt, all of Waco, Texas; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Arnold Hall of Georgetown, Texas; and a host of family and friends. Viewing will be Wed., Oct. 4, 9am-9pm, with family present from 5-7pm at Mercer-Adams. Funeral service will be Thurs., Oct. 5, 10:30am at Calvary Church of the Nazarene. Graveside services will be Thurs. at 2:00pm at Duncan Cemetery.
