Marie Louise Roberts, 89, died April 11, 2018. She was born October 4, 1928 in Springfield, Ohio to Walter V. and Georgia McCoun. She lived her whole life in Springfield until 2013, going to Assisted Living at Garbry Ridge in Piqua, Ohio followed by Heritage Point of Oklahoma City. In fact, when in Springfield, she always lived on High Street, having been born and raised on West High and, after marriage, lived in 2 different residences on East High. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1946. She married the LOVE of her life, "Chuck" (Charles A. Roberts), March 7, 1953. Marie was employed by Prudential Insurance Company before marriage and prior to having children. During this same time, she played violin in the Springfield Symphony, sang with the Evening Fortnightly Chorus, and attended Evening Fortnightly Music Club and Nu Phi Mu Sorority. Once her children were school age, she followed through on what was expected for her children academically and volunteered as opportunities presented themselves at Horace Mann Elementary, Schaefer Junior High, and South High. She, especially, made many friends, along with her husband in their work with the South High (parent) Booster Club. Her children, Joan, Rush, and Hugh will long remember how no church services were missed. She was wonderful, along with their dad, at keeping the magical part of Christmas and Easter alive for them! After many years being a "stay at home Mom," she became Central United Methodist (Faith United Methodist) Churchs Financial Secretary. She enjoyed many activities in the church such as Choir, Bell Choir, subbing for the secretary, volunteering in the soup kitchen for the homeless, and serving at the Rainbow Table. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Doris McCoun Hawlik. Survivors include her children, Joan Roberts-Swank and husband Dan Swank of Troy, OH, Rush E. Roberts and wife Jennifer of Creve Coeur, MO, and Hugh H. Roberts and wife Lorie of Oklahoma City, OK; 6 grandchildren, Jackie, Brad, Jennifer, Chelsie, Charlie, and Mark; and 9 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Point of OKC for their loving care to Marie.
