Obituary

Marie Fister September 13, 1937 August 22, 2021 Marie went to her heavenly home on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at 1:58am, from complications of pneumonia. She was a resident of Branson, Missouri, where she attended Faith and Wisdom Church, with Pastor Gary and Carol McSpadden. Marie Fister was born September 13,1937 to Lawrence and Edith (Wilhelm) Preston, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, where she grew up. She graduated from Guthrie High School. Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Lloyd Ronald; eldest son, Michael Ronald; parents, Lawrence and Edith Preston; brother, Frank Preston, and wife, Edna Preston; sister, Evelyn Guthrie; nephew, Richard "Ricky" Roberts; and niece, Karen Preston. She is survived by her two sons, Richard and wife, Lori; and Mark; daughter-in-law, Nancy; and 3 grandchildren, Jacob and wife Rebekah, Kaitlyn and Quinton; sisters, Maxine Towle, Carolyn Roberts. Maries absence will be greatly felt by all her treasured nieces, nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Marie and "Ronnie" met at Hawthorne Assembly of God on Fathers Day, June 1956, and were married in the same church on November 1, 1956. Marie began her most faithful tasks of being a loyal wife and mother at the age of 20. Their marriage adventures began when Ronnies job moved them to Chicago, Tulsa and finally Oklahoma City. At a time when women were choosing to work outside the home, Marie also desired a career in Real Estate. She enrolled in her first Real Estate class. Upon realizing that the time commitment would include evenings and weekends, which would take her away from the family, her deep conviction to be the homemaker to the growing family prevailed, and she put her career on hold until the children were in school. Eventually she started working until the age of 65. Her jobs included photographing homes for the Multi-List publication for City-wide distribution. Later she was employed for many years by Bethany Medical Clinic in the Business Office. Her experience then took her to Plaza Medical Insurance. Her final job began in 2009-2021. As a board member of Shepherds of Love, a faith-based ministry, the founder Teresa Roundtree praises Marie as "our oldest long standing board member who was a Rock of Faith for the growth of this ministry." Marie was a true minister, in her own way, without requiring recognition. She taught childrens Sunday School and Girls Missionettes. After retirement she trained and became a certified volunteer Jail and Prison Chaplain to incarcerated women through the Oklahoma Jail & Prison Ministries. Continuing her adventures brought on a new challenge. To accomplish her dream of traveling, she must first find a good way to convince Ronnie in the purchase of their first motorhome. Then she must research and discover a way for him to utilize his time to be productive while traveling. Marie and Ronnie became US MAPS RV volunteers for the Assemblies of God. She found multiple projects for Ronnie in places she wanted to visit throughout the US. Their months-long trips allowed them to meet up with many family members from Coast to Coast along the way. Marie loved books and enjoyed reading, especially mysteries. Her joy was making people feel loved, special, and important. She appreciated and enjoyed fresh flowers, especially roses. Ronnie planted two rose bushes in the front flower bed for her pleasure. Over the years she has always told us, "I would rather receive flowers while I am able to enjoy them, instead of for my funeral." Maries lifelong faith could be summed up in these words: "To know Him, and make Him known." As a young child she received Christ and says she always knew she was loved by Jesus, without a doubt. She was intentional and diligent in studying and applying the scripture, "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15). She enjoyed both personal and group Bible studies. Marie was a regular participant of the International Womens Bible study. Her favorite scripture, and one she lived by was "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6). Marie was proactive in her faith, and did not hesitate, flinch, or draw back from the call to share the love of Jesus with all she came in contact with. She demonstrated the love of God, and glorified Christ in her actions, words, and deeds, with a generous heart and a pleasant disposition. Marie was unwavering in her faith, relentless against the adversary, fierce in intercessory prayer, selfless, sacrificial, dedicated, thoughtful, faithful, loyal, and humble. Maries love for her family and friends was excelled only by her love for the Lord Jesus Christ. .
