Obituary

Marie A. Barnes, 90, went home to be with the Lord on January 3, 2013. She was born, one of ten children, to August and Vera (Kubiako) Drew on May 18, 1922 in Harrah, OK. She moved to Oklahoma City and worked at Western Electric and Armour Meat Company where she met her late husband, Fred (Bill) Barnes and married on February 17, 1945. They were blessed with four children. She was a loving and devoted mother and wife. She has been a great inspiration to everyone with her beautiful smile, positive attitude and her caring disposition. She loved her family and friends and cherished the time she spent with them. She exemplified a great Christian ethic by her actions throughout her life and portrayed a strong relationship with Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She loved music, dancing, and exercising as well as excelling in decorating and cooking. Everyone enjoyed her home-cooked meals, much of her vegetables and fruits coming from her own garden and trees. Tending to her garden and beautiful flowers were her passion. She always loved volunteering prepared meals or snacks for her children's school. She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Vera Drew; husband, Fred (Bill) Barnes; sons, Fred and Gary Barnes; sisters, Florence, Frances, Helen, Evelyn; brothers, Joe and Edward Drew. Marie is survived by her daughters, Linda Snyder and husband Andy, and Carolyn Hall and husband Mike; grandchildren, Christopher, Jeffrey, and Stephen Snyder, Preston and Tiffany Hall; brothers, George and Mike Drew; sister, Cathy Curtis; numerous nieces and nephews as well as her very close friend, Dan Walker.
