Marian "Maxine"
Weeks
Dec 14, 1929 — Aug 23, 2026
Marian "Maxine" Nix Weeks passed away at age 97 on August 23, 2026. She was born on December 14, 1929, to Marion and Ercel Nix in Pond Creek, Oklahoma and moved to the Nix family homestead in Kansas at a young age. Maxine was one of five children, growing up with three brothers, William, James, and Roy, and one sister, Mary Lee. Maxine was a very tiny child; that is why she was given the nickname of "Tad."
Maxine spent most of her childhood growing up on a farm. She attended school in a one-room schoolhouse. During her 12th grade year Maxine was voted Queen of the Senior class by her classmates. She graduated from high school in 1948. During this time, she met Harold Elder and they fell in love.
After graduating high school, Maxine and Harold were married. They had one child, Harold Lee Elder, who was born in 1949. In 1951 Harold, Sr. had a heart attack while working on his family's farm and passed away. After Harold's passing, Maxine moved back to the Nix family homestead.
Maxine and Harold Weeks grew up together and had been friends for years because of the friendship Harold had with Maxine's brothers. Harold was at the Nix home more than he was at his own home. Harold had not told Maxine about his feelings for her and was secretly in love with her. Harold had enlisted in the military and did not want to ask Maxine to wait for him to return home. When Harold returned from boot camp they started dating. They were married in 1953 and had two sons together, Marion "Butch" Weeks and Richard Weeks.
Maxine was now a military wife. While she was not considered active duty, she supported her husband and our military personnel for 24 years. Maxine contributed by baking pies, cakes, and cookies. She would also wash and iron military uniforms. During these 24 years they were stationed at several different postings in the United States and one overseas deployment to Guam.
In 1972 the Weeks family set up residency in Oklahoma City. In 1973 the family moved into Warr Acres. Maxine and Harold were married for 46 years before Harold passed away in 1999. Maxine resided in Warr Acres until she moved to a Christian retirement community in Bethany.
Some of Maxine's accomplishments were her love for God and the Christian example her life was to everyone she met. During their deployment to Guam, Maxine and Harold helped build the First Assembly of God Church on the island. During their stay in Illinois, they helped build another church literally from the ground up. Maxine loved God and served God all her life. She was always active in her church, helping in one way or another. Her love of God is the legacy she is leaving behind to her family and friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Ercel Nix; both husbands, Harold Elder and Harold Weeks; son Marion "Butch" Weeks; brothers, William Nix and James Nix; sister, Mary Lee Mead; and grandson, Harold Lee Weeks, Jr.
She is survived by her brother, Roy Nix of Kansas; sons, Harold "Harry" Weeks of Colorado and Richard Weeks and wife Reneé of Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Maxine's name to The Bridge Church in Bethany. She loved this church and attended for the past 18 years.
