Margret Ann Carney, at the age of 88, went to be with her Lord early Saturday morning, May 22nd, after a brief illness. At the time of her passing, Ann was living at the Southern Plaza Assisted Living Center in Bethany, OK. Ann was born July 28, 1932 and was the youngest of the five children of Emma and George Vernon Frazier. Ann was proud to be a lifelong Okie. The family first lived in the Hominy, Wynona and Pawhuska area of Oklahoma and moved to El Reno when Ann was seven. She attended public schools there, graduating from El Reno High School in 1950. Ann had a long 35-year career with the State of Oklahoma, working most of those years in the Department of Child Welfare.
Ann was married to Johnson Bransford (Brandy) Carney in 1969 in Oklahoma City, OK. No children were born to this marriage. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Brandy, two sisters, Rosilynne Jean Rukes and Carolyn Martin, and two brothers, Warren Frazier and Harold Frazier. She is survived by three stepchildren, Linda Carney Varner and her husband Tom, Norman, OK, Carol Carney Gallop, Norman, OK, David Carney, Sanford, ME; two nieces, Cynthia Ann Provance and her husband Mike, St. Louis, MO and Jacquelyn Sue "Susi" Seits and her husband Monte, Branson, MO; and many great nieces and nephews.
Ann enjoyed traveling with her family throughout the U.S. and other parts of the world, including a cruise on the Queen Elizabeth II. In later life, she and her sisters frequently traveled together, including a trip to the Holy Land. Ann was an avid bridge player, loved working jigsaw puzzles and reading. She also believed in daily walks, except on Sunday.
Ann professed her faith in Jesus Christ, was baptized and remained faithful to her Lord throughout her life. For many years and at the time of her passing, she was a member of the Northwest Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.
Anns ashes will be interred next to those of her husband, Brandy, in the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 2nd at 10 AM in the Chapel at the Mercer-Adams Funeral Home at 3925 N. Asbury in Bethany, OK.
