Obituary

Margarita del Carmen Ramirez Cisterna was born on September 5, 1938 in Curacautin, Chile. She was the oldest of seven siblings. She lived with her father and mother in a little town called Lo Espejo, located in Santiago Province. Margarita was very creative and had a talent for drawing and painting. During high school, she attended cosmetology school at night and later worked full-time as a painter in a ceramic factory. Margarita met German Fernando Albornoz Muoz at a young adult co-ed social club in Santiago and they became acquainted. In the meantime, German worked as a bookkeeper and was in the Army Reserves. A few years later, Margarita and German were engaged, and German applied for a scholarship to study in the United States. They married on September 25, 1967 in a simple courthouse ceremony in Santiago and one week later, German traveled to the United States for school. Margarita was reunited with her husband in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1969. German describes Margarita as an excellent mother and housewife. Although shy and at times reserved, her heart was full of love, hugs and smiles. She devoted herself to taking care of others. She was determined to learn English and begin her new life in the American culture. Margarita worked at the Childrens Convalescent Hospital in Bethany for a short time before she was a full-time mother with two daughters. When her daughters were older, she met Peggy and began working full-time at Peggys Little Darlings childcare center. She enjoyed her job and loved taking care of the babies, toddlers, and young children. She was known by staff, children, and parents as "Miss Maggie." Margarita also worked as a home health care provider for an older gentleman who nominated her for an award. One day, Mayor Kirk Humpherys presented Margarita as honorary mayor for a day and the key to Oklahoma City. When Margarita received her certificate of naturalization and was admitted as a citizen of the United States of America in February 1997, she officially changed her first name to Maggie. She said she was a true American now. Maggie loved and rescued animals. Animals were naturally drawn to her as unexpected lost birds, turtles, and even a rooster found its way into her backyard. She would take care of them if she could and named each one of them. She loved flowers and gardening and spending time in a field of flowers. She was lighthearted in spirit and had a great sense of humor and laugh. Maggie was a strong woman of faith, and she was devoted to her family and to her Lord Jesus. Her favorite passage was Psalm 23. On Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, Maggie went to be with her heavenly father. She was preceded in death by her father, Juan Andrs Ramirez and her mother, Berta del Carmen Cisterna Hidalgo; and her half-sister, Marta Vivanco. She is survived by her husband, German Albornoz; and her daughters, Erika White and her husband, Jimmy; and Karen Albornoz. Surviving siblings are her sister, Bella Ramirez; her half-sisters, Carmen Vivanco and Maggie Vivanco; and her half-brothers, Fernando Vivanco and Ramon Vivanco. Her surviving step-grandchildren are Allison White and her fiance, Jason Whittington; and Kyle White and his wife, Neely. Her surviving step-great grandchildren are Penelope, Maverick, Wade, Oceania and soon arriving baby girl, Leena. She loved her many nieces, nephews, relatives, coworkers, friends, church family, extended family members and especially her grand dog, Oscar White and her grand cat, Tazz Albornoz.
