Madeline Mathews Jones, OKC, passed away on December 8, 2010, just eight days short of her 93rd birthday. She was born in Port, OK, December 16, 1917, to L.W. and Ida Mapp Mathews and graduated from Port High School in 1935. She also attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University. In 1939, she married Glen B. Jones. They moved to OKC and had 56 wonderful years together before his death in 1993. Madeline loved her family and considered being a wife, mother, and grandmother her greatest joy, second only to her relationship with Jesus Christ, her Savior and Lord. She was a best friend to her daughter, Glenda, and was a kind and faithful friend to neighbors and others with whom she came in contact. While her husband was still living she could be found helping with or supervising their many projects at home for family and friends. Madeline was a member of Olivet Baptist Church for 60 years and was involved with Bible school, Big A, and her Sunday school class. She loved working with the children and telling them about Jesus. Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother who died at birth, and her husband. Survivors include daughter, Glenda, and son-in-law, Phil Lee, of OKC; and 3 grandsons: Michael Lee, Mathew Lee and wife, Erika, all of OKC, and Bryan Lee and wife, Bridget, of Colorado Springs, CO. Thank you to the many staff and residents at Heritage Assisted Living for three years of care, love and friendship. Services will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, December 13, at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Arlington Memory Gardens, 3700 Midwest Blvd. The family will receive friends in the foyer after the service.
