With full hearts but great sadness we said goodbye to our mother and grandmother, Madeline Lillian Ellsworth. Madeline was born August 20, 1920 in Oklahoma City to Lonnie David and Ellie Dee Ferguson and passed peacefully surrounded by family on October 14, 2022 at Rivermont in Norman, Oklahoma. Her 102 years were filled with family, friends, God, and love.
Madeline graduated from Putnam City High School in 1938. After high school she worked for the telephone company before starting her career with Oklahoma City Public Schools as an Administrative Assistant where she stayed until her retirement.
She married the love of her life, Paul Hicks Ellsworth, on September 14, 1944. Together they raised two daughters, Gayle, and Paula Dee. The family made their home in Oklahoma City and Madeline and Paul had 51 loving years together.
She is survived by her daughters, Gayle Lindsey, and Paula Dee Morton; grandchildren, Russell Cole and wife Angela, Daren Cole, Faith Westervelt and husband Jimmy, Leslie Schlarb and husband John; great grandchildren, Russ Cole, Reilly Schlarb, Jordan Schlarb, Chance Westervelt, Peyton Westervelt, Kory Cole, Megan Cole, and Ashley Cole; and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; grandson, Robert Paul Cole; son-in-law, Lee Lindsey; brother, Ottis Ferguson; sister, Wanda Hininger; stepson, Paul Leon; and her first husband, Frank Harrall.
Although our hearts are broken, we are thankful she had 102 years full of life. She was a member of Olivet Baptist Church for over 75 years. She was playing bridge until a week before her death. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, traveling, and gardening. Her family will fondly remember her beautiful azalea bushes, her chocolate meringue pie, her sense of style, and her beautiful smile.
