Obituary

Mabel Estelle Jennings, 89, passed away in Seymour, Wisconsin, Sunday, February 28, 2010. She was born August 30, 1920 in Bell County, Texas to Clarence and Winnie (Halpain) Eakin. She graduated high school in Moody, Texas, and went on to receive her bachelors degree in 1941 from Mary Hardin-Baylor University, Belton, Texas. In 1943, she did graduate study at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. She married Leon Jennings and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage before his passing February 20, 2010. Mabel founded the Home Economics Department at Bethany Penial College (now SNU). She served as a district missionary president and missionary president at Bethany First Church for 10 years. In addition to teaching, she was a faithful pastors wife for 42 years. Mabel is survived by her sons, Dwight and Dennis Jennings; siblings Frances Cureton, Bobby Eakin and Faron Hindman; and 4 grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew, Lauren and Kristin Jennings. Viewing will be Monday, 8am-9pm with the family receiving guests from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 9, 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Bethany Cemetery.
