Millicent "Earlene" Schmidt, 76, died July 8, 2015. She was born October 18, 1938 in Great Bend, KS to Earl and Fern (Schmidt) Ledford. She married Dean Schmidt, October 13, 1957 in Larned, KS. She found the Lord at age 5 in the Mennonite Church. She often played piano during the church services. As a homemaker, Earlene was able to be a Den Mother for Cub Scouts, be involved with the Brownies program and worked as a Nurse in the church nursery. She enjoyed crafts and science projects with the grandchildren. Her dream was to become a Nurse so she could care for our nation's soldiers. She was able to realize a portion of her dream and graduated with a degree in Nursing. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Kay Abney, and brother, Terry Ledford. Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Dean; son, Scotty Schmidt and wife Bertha of Bethany; daughter, Sherri Reynolds and husband Larrie of Sparta, NJ; brother, Phil Ledford and wife Sandy of ND; and grandchildren, Kyle Schmidt, Benjamin Reynolds, Jill Hardin, Thomas Reynolds, and Melissa Reynolds. Viewing will be Sunday, 11am-9pm, with family present from 2-4pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Monday, July 13, 2:00pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Bethany Cemetery.
