Obituary

Lynette E Riggs, age 87, passed peacefully into the arms of her heavenly father on Tuesday morning, June 9, 2009, in Oklahoma City. Lynette was born the youngest of 5 children, in Marshall, TX on May 14, 1922, to Goshen Lee Corbin and Flora Young Corbin. Lynette attended Bethany Peniel College where she met her husband to be, Donald E. Riggs. They were married on July 2, 1942 in Scottsville, TX and settled in Bethany, OK where they lived most of their almost 67 years of marriage. Lynette received her B.A. from Bethany Nazarene College in education in 1961, after giving her children a good start in life, and taught at Bethany Elementary School for more than 23 years. Lynette loved being a wife and mother, teaching her 5th graders, and taking an active part in her familys activities. Lynette was a member of several organizations, but the Bethany First Church of the Nazarene was always the foundation of her life, 70 years. Lynette is survived by her husband, Don, and 3 children, Phoebe Riggs Key and her husband, Tandy Key, Donald E. Riggs, Jr. and wife, Genie Riggs, and Michael A. Riggs and his wife, Bambi Riggs, 9 grandchildren, Bob Mohler, Angela Reynolds, Teddy Smith, Farrah Roy, Jennifer Fuston, Jason Riggs, Michael Riggs, Jr., Gina Simon, Donald Riggs III, their spouses, and 14 great-grandchildren. Lynette would say, We have truly been blessed. The family will greet friends during visitation on Thursday evening, June 11, 2009 between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, 3925 N Asbury in Bethany. The funeral will be held at the Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, 6789 NW 39th Expressway, Bethany, on Friday, June 12, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., with interment following at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 8701 NW Expressway. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Lynettes name to The Childrens Center, 6800 NW 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK. 73008.
