Lydia Rosalie (Ketzler) Stoops
July 1, 1929 - March 31, 2021
Surrounded by her family, Lydia "Rosalie" Stoops passed away peacefully in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the age of 91. Born on July 1, 1929 in Wichita, Kansas to Cecil and Mary Bell (Bratcher) Ketzler.
After graduating high school, Rosalie received her nursing degree from St. John's Hospital School of Nursing in Joplin, Missouri in 1951. She retired from Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City after working in the intensive care unit until 1994. She loved to hear from her co-workers and enjoyed the lunch dates in the early years of retirement.
Rosalie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed monthly Sunday gatherings to celebrate birthdays for each of her children and grandchildren. Nothing can compare to the roast and potatoes or turkey and homemade noodles prepared lovingly by her. It was a sight to see how many people could fit into her tiny little house. Don't move from your seat, or you will lose it! She will always be remembered for her quiet demeanor and love for Jesus Christ. She was ready to hold the hands of angels and be free of the pain she bravely endured every day for so long. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was blessed with four sons: Kenneth (Christie), Robert (Kathy), Ronald (Stacy), and David (Kelly) Stoops; and three daughters, Mary (Russell) Doughty, Paula (Robert) Ruckel, and Brenda (Richard) Cervenka. She received much pleasure from her nineteen grandchildren: Bradley (Brianne Owens) Stoops, Brian (Kortney) Stoops, Joshua (Courtney) Stoops, Jamie (Michael) DeLay, Jonathan (Alyssa), Sheena (Chase) Alexander, Daniel Stoops, Jennifer Linsenbarth, Dakota (Kacey) Doughty, Whitney (Jonathan) Werner, Morgan (Chauncey) Shillow, Taylor (Justin) Werner, Joseph (Julisia) Ruckel, Rebekah Ruckel, Britton (Taylor) Bowden, Kyle Bowden, Hayden Stoops and Carson Stoops; twenty great-grandchildren with two on the way and many other loving family and friends.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Ketzler; her late husband, Kenneth Stoops, Sr.; and precious granddaughter, Kassidy Stoops and precious grandchild, Christian DeLay.
