Lucy lost her courageous battle with cancer in her home on October 17, 2012. She was born to C.B. and Lucy Barnes in Leedey, OK. She married Albert Newton on December 21, 1940, who preceded her in death in 2008. She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 1 grandchild. She is survived by brother, Frank Leon Barnes; son, Larry Newton and wife Regenia; daughter, Sue Columbus; son, Jim Newton and wife Judy; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a member of Putnam City Baptist Church for 60 years. She retired from Community Bank where she worked for 16 years. Lucy was her family's best friend and will be sorely missed. The family wishes to thank the Hospice workers from Mission Hospice, especially Megan and Cathryn, for the exceptional care they gave her. Viewing will be held Friday, October 19, from 9am-9pm, with the family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany.
