Lucretia Mae Carter, 82, died May 20, 2015 in Bethany, OK. She was born October 12, 1932 in Omaha, NE to George Owen and Evelyn Antonia (Kopecky) Carter. She taught elementary school for 29 years in OK, NM, SD and Alaska. A 1950 graduate of Omaha North High School, she graduated from Bethany Nazarene College, and received her MEd degree (aerospace education) in 1982 from MTSU in TN. Lucretia completed her private pilot certification on Aug. 4, 1984 and participated in the Great Southern Air Race and, in Alaska, has flown her C-172 west to Cold Bay (Alaska peninsula) and to Kotzebue (north of Arctic Circle). She was a member of the 99's Cook Inlet Chapter; AOPA, Civil Air Patrol (has served as observer with CAP Search Missions). She was an avid photographer, traveler and cat lover. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, Ludmilla Margaret Carter, and sister-in-law, Shirley Baxter Carter. Survivors include her brother, Louis John Carter and wife Willette Baxter Carter, Russellville, AR; sister, Martha Evelyn and husband Lawrence Zapp Williams, Bethany, OK; nieces and nephews, Sylvia Louann Carter Harmon and husband Phillip, West Liberty, KY, Evelyn Elaine Carter Lovell and husband Greg of Salem, OR, Lawrence Paul Williams of Bethany, Evelyn Louise Williams Bailey and husband Stephan of Lawton, OK, Charles Douglas Williams and wife Kimberly of Sugarland, TX; grand-nieces and nephews, Carter Dean Rowland of West Liberty, KY, Elisa Lovell of Salem, OR, Austin Douglas Williams and Ashley Denise Williams, both of Sugarland, TX, David Mark Cole Williams of Bethany, OK, Alexander Owen Bailey of Lawton, OK; and several cousins and friends around the world. Memorial service will be Friday, May 29, 2:00pm at the New Hope Worship Center, 3513 N. Geraldine Ave., OKC.
