Loy Lee
Harris
Jun 24, 1940 — Aug 21, 2026
Loy Lee Harris, 86, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026. He was born on June 24, 1940, in Caddo, Oklahoma, to Robert and Iona (Rogers) Harris and was the youngest of four children.
Loy grew up in Caddo, where he attended Caddo High School and was actively involved in FFA. In 1959, during his senior year, his family moved to Bovina, Texas, where he graduated from Bovina High School and played football. Following graduation, Loy proudly served his country in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. After being honorably discharged, he continued his military service in the United States Army Reserve. He later earned a Bachelor's degree in Business from Oklahoma City University (OCU), beginning a career in the men's fine apparel industry.
Loy met the love of his life, Karen Boydstun, through his best friend, Emmett Boydstun, who was also Karen's cousin. They began dating and were married on June 30, 1961. Together, they shared 65 years of marriage, building a loving life and raising their three children in Bethany, Oklahoma. In 2021, they moved to Baptist Village Assisted Living. For the last two years of Loy's life, he and Karen lived at Iris Memory Care in Nichols Hills, where Karen continues to reside.
Loy spent his career in the men's fine apparel industry, serving as a Manager and Buyer at George Y. Allen Man's Shop in downtown Oklahoma City, a family business owned by his father-in-law, George Allen. During that time, Loy also served as co-chairman for the Oklahoma Historical Society's Downtown Now! Summer Street Spectacular. After the business closed its doors, Loy continued his career in the industry, later retiring from Men's Wearhouse as a Sales Manager.
Loy was an active member of Council Road Baptist Church, where he enjoyed attending services and volunteering as a greeter and served on the finance committee for many years. His faith was the foundation of his life and guided the way he lived. He was a lifelong animal lover and an avid reader who enjoyed a variety of genres. He found joy in gardening, reading his Bible, staying informed on current events, following the stock market, and cheering on his favorite teams—the Dallas Cowboys, OU Sooners, and OKC Thunder.
Loy and Karen enjoyed traveling together, especially their trips to Hawaii, Branson, and Lake Tahoe. He also had a well-known sweet tooth and never turned down a good chocolate malt from Braum's or a slice of his sister Betty's chocolate pie.
Loy never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone willing to listen. He was kind, gentle, funny, and always ready to offer practical advice, especially to his children. His kids fondly remember that some of his best advice—and longest lectures—came during car rides, when they were a captive audience. He enjoyed coaching them through job interviews, sharing lessons about saving and investing, recommending a good business book, talking about his faith, and offering his perspective on life. His guidance was always given with love, and his children will carry those lessons with them for years to come.
Loy was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Iona Harris; his siblings, Doris Faye Hood and husband Don, Billy Bob Harris and his wife, Dorothy; his brother-in-law, Rev. R.P. Thompson; his father-in-law, George Y. Allen, and mother-in-law, Billie Marie Allen (Claborn); sister-in-law Susan and her husband Clarence, and his beloved grandson, Brandon.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 65 years, Karen; his children, Brad Harris and his wife, Tracy, Michelle Frey and her husband, Bret, and Angie Bryant and her husband, Michael; his nine grandchildren, Braden, Patrick and his wife, Lydia, Zachary and his wife, Tarah, Makenzie, Ella, Olivia, Nick, Ava, and Ivy; his adored sister, Betty Thompson; his sister-in-law Kristi and her husband Frank, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Iris Memory Care of Nichols Hills and Frontier Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they provided during the final two years of Loy's life.
Memorial services will be held Friday, September 18, 11:00 a.m. at Council Road Baptist Church-chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Council Road Baptist Church's General Fund in memory of Loy Harris.
