Loy "Dean"
Forbes
Dec 1, 1957 — May 24, 2024
Loy "Dean" Forbes was born on December 1, 1957 to Rev. and Mrs. Loy Lee Forbes in Bartlesville, OK. He left this life on May 24, 2024 at the facility he was living at in El Reno, OK.
As a child, Dean was an outgoing little boy who loved Jesus with all his heart. He had dreams of preaching to the lost and raising wild horses in Montana. While a traumatic brain injury at age 11 cut those dreams short, he had developed his own ministry.
For the next 44 years, he lived with his family in the family home. Anyone Dean visited with for any length of time would come to know that first, Dean loved God and second, that they needed to love God, too! His humor and need to tease those he loved showed every time he had the chance. From "there's a mouse" to anyone he thought might fall for it to "There's the preacher" to his sisters when they were washing their hair or getting dressed in the other room. His endearing personality made it so easy to want what he had, the love of Jesus.
His last 11 years were spent in what is now called River Oaks Skilled Nursing. Dean became like family to many staff members there. He would spend his days coloring or drawing, loved going to Bible studies and would always need to talk about some scripture that had been on his heart.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Loy and Mary Forbes; and grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Paul and Reva Nace, and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence and Mary Forbes, along with a number of beloved aunts and uncles.
He is survived by sisters, Dianna Dahlke and Darla Evanoff (and husband Jim); nieces, Karissa Pruitt (and husband Ryan with son Rylee), Jaisa Kaufmann (and husband Matt), and Shelbie Dahlke; and nephew, Bryce Sullivan as well as several beloved aunts, uncles and cousins who love him dearly!
