Virginia "Louise" (Bayles) West was born in Simpson County, KY February 25, 19 (Top Secret), to Lee A. Bayles and Virginia (Loafman) Bayles. She was raised on a Kentucky farm and later moved to Bowling Green, KY where she worked and made her own way in life. It was there she discovered the Church of the Nazarene and became a life long member. In her late teens she and her sister Christine (Strack), and two other close friends accepted the challenge of their pastor and his wife to go with them to Pasadena, California to finish high school at the Nazarene Academy and go to college. With less than $100 in her purse she set out on this life changing adventure. It was there she met Ralph E. West, a tall, lanky boy from Texas who had also gone there to attend College in the days immediately following WW II. They were married November 5, 1949 and later served together in the ministry for 55 years, 6 years as pastor in Waco, TX, 14 years as pastor in Arlington, TX , 24 years as District Superintendent in Louisiana and 11 years as co-founder and president of ARMM (Association of Retired Ministers and Missionaries). A dedicated grandmother, her grandchildren were the stars in her eyes (they could do no wrong). Whether it was cooking or serving the sick and needy, she always worked behind the scenes, never wanting any recognition. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister and 1 niece. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ralph; son Larry West and wife Beth; daughter, Cindy Cagle and husband Neil; Sisters, Christine Strack, Mary Jean Collins and Jo Ann Tabor; grandchildren, Michael and wife Kerri, Dustin, Austin and Catherine; and a great host of family and dear friends. She tried to hold on for the birth of her first great-grandchild, Brintley Dawn Cagle, but she didnt quite make it. A life well lived! As far as her husband knows she never had a sinful thought!
