Louis B. Straughan Jr., left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on March 26, 2011. Louis was born February 14, 1922 to Louis B. Sr. and Minnie D. Straughan in Goldonna, LA. At age 12 he gave his life to Christ & was baptized in the Bayou Mason River. Louis said many times Im going to Heaven and will take as many with me as I can. He served in the Air Force during WWII on the crew of a Boeing B-29. Louis attended Louisiana Baptist College and became General Manager for Paul Revere where he began his career as an insurance businessman. He spent 56 years in the insurance business. Louis met Jean Barlow in 1943 and married her on July 21, 1945. Louis and Jean have been members of Putnam City Baptist Church since 1965 where Louis has served as a deacon for many years. Louis was a loving & devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He knew no strangers and witnessed the good news of Jesus Christ to everyone he met. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and daughter Janis. He is survived by his wife Jean, daughter Sandra Woodward and husband Russell, son Gary Straughan and wife Debbie, grandchildren Kristin and husband Nick, Angela, Joel, Justin, Heather, Camarie and husband Kevin, and great grandchildren Meadow, Blayne, and Andrew. Viewing is Monday, March 28th from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, March 29th at Putnam City Baptist Church 11401 N. Rockwell at 2pm with Interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Putnam City Baptist Church in Louis memory.
