Obituary

Loritta Faye Fitzgerald Baxter, known also as Fritz to some family and friends, passed away on July 14, 2012. She was born on June 13, 1935, in Wichita, Kansas, to Mack and Marie Fitzgerald. She moved with her family to Oklahoma City in 1948 and later attended Oklahoma Baptist University where she met Donald Baxter. They were married Feb. 15, 1957, following her graduation from OBU. In 1971 she earned a master's degree in education and began her teaching career. Through the years, she taught kindergarten to college. After retiring from full-time teaching, she taught English part-time at OSU-OKC. She was an active member of Quail Springs Baptist Church and the Beta Xi chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, a sorority for educators. She is survived by her husband, Don; son, Jeff; daughter, Kathy Walker; son-in-law, Roy Walker; granddaughter, Elyse Walker; sisters, Norma Lee and Rose Marie Wallace; and other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by infant son, Donald Keith; parents, Mack and Marie Fitzgerald; and brother, Mack, Jr. Viewing will be at Mercer Adams Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday. The family will be present for visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday. A family graveside service will be held at Chapel Hill on Wednesday at noon. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Quail Springs Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Quail Springs Baptist Church building fund or to another charity of choice.
