Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven, protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this we greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, we have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of our faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Such is the testimony of our dear mother, Loretta Hinkle, who passed from her frail earthly temple on the LORD's day, Sunday, May 15, having completed her life's work and now rejoicing with the angels and saints in the presence of God. Born 08/04/31 in Garden City, KS, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Harrison Cooley and Lavona Ruth Becraft Cooley and survived by her children: Debbi and Billy Reinschmiedt, Alameda, CA; Elaine and Rick Miller, Oklahoma City, OK; Royce III (Tracy) and Karen Hinkle, Winter Springs, FL; grandchildren: Taylar and Brian Wenzel, Ashlie and Robert Oscher, Kristen and Caleb Harris, Morgan and Steven Balogh; five great-grandchildren: Julia Clements and Connor Wenzel, Lakynn and Skylar Oscher, and Noah Harris, all of Winter Springs/Oviedo, FL; her sister, JoAnn Allen, Garden Plain, KS; nephew, Dave Allen, Garden Plain, KS; niece, Janny Patton, Redmond, WA; and many loved ones in her extended family.
A graduate of the University of Kansas, Loretta completed her training as a medical technologist at the School of Medicine in Kansas City in 1954, whereupon she became a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Following 20 years of service at Cardiologists, Inc., Loretta was Clinical Laboratory Supervisor at the Oklahoma Allergy and Asthma Clinic, from which she retired in 2000.
Loretta's devotion to her children is evidenced through her involvement in their many activities, having been a Sunday school teacher for 50 years at Grace United Methodist Church; a Girl Scout leader, lifetime member and 50+ year volunteer for Red Lands Council/GS Western Oklahoma; volunteer/trainer of 1st Aid/CPR and babysitting for the American Red Cross, Oklahoma chapter; afterschool reading tutor for Whiz Kids; trainer and/or registrar for USA Track and Field, The Athletic Congress, Amateur Athletic Union, Oklahoma City Running Club, and a founding board member of the Satellite Athletic Association. She received many awards and commendations through the years including the Frances Hesselbein and Woman of Distinction Awards from Girl Scouting and a State of Oklahoma Governor's Commendation for exceptional and unwavering volunteerism on behalf of Oklahoma children and youth.
Loretta will be remembered most for the great love she shared with her family and all the children she met along the way and a life of faith and trust in God.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the Grace United Methodist Comfort Critters program which benefits children rescued from distressful situations and the Family Scholarship Fund of Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma which provides opportunities for girls whose family income is limited.
In lieu of flowers, you may bring a teddy bear or other stuffed animal to the service and celebration of life, which will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 63rd and Tulsa, on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 2:00pm.
Mother would ask all to remember her in this way: "Plant a flower, plant a tree. Hug a child and say it's from me. Walk in the sunshine, walk in the rain. Don't mourn for me, I feel no pain. I'm where there are no heartaches, there are no tears. Yes, I'm finally at peace after all these years."
Rest well, dear Mother, rest well.
