On December 16, 2018, one day after celebrating her 90th birthday with family, Lollie Megee went home to be with the Lord. She was born in Laredo, Texas, on December 15, 1928, to Tennyson and Maria Weisell. During her early years, Lollie and her family lived in Texas, South Carolina, Georgia, the Philippines, and Washington State. Shortly after graduation from Port Townsend High School in Port Townsend, WA, Lollie moved to Seattle and worked at Olympic National Life Ins. Co. While employed at Olympic National, Lollie saw a handsome young man with piercing blue eyes come in for a job interview. She went home that day and told her two sisters she was going to marry him if he got the job. Robert W. Megee was the handsome young man, and he got the job. Lollie and Bob were married for 55 years until his death in 2004. They had three children Robin, Valerie and Russell.
Lollie was part of the Greatest Generation. Cooking, gardening, bowling and reading were some of Lollies hobbies. Lollies chili recipe is legend. Its been said anyone fortunate enough to have tasted a bowl of Lollies chili always tried to steal her recipe. Although the recipe remains a well-kept secret here, were quite certain shes already made a batch of it in Heaven and served it along with her incredible potato salad, mouth-watering barbeque ribs and scrumptious caramel pecan pie. She loved gardening and had two green thumbs. She was an excellent bowler and loved reading books on U.S. history.
Friends called her Lollie and Lollipop. Her children called her Mom, Mamasita, Madre, Mud, and her grandchildren called her Maudie. However, Mom was most proud to be called a Child of God. She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age, and lived her life spreading the Good News. If you knew Lollie, you knew she was a prayer warrior. She considered it a privilege to pray for others. She taught Sunday School and VBS for many years and held Bible Studies in her home for as long as she was able. She liked to talk about the Streets of Gold in Heaven and how she looked forward to seeing Jesus. We know Mom is now leading Praise and Worship on the Streets of Gold. We love Mom and will miss her dearly. However, we will see her again and give all the Glory to God.
Lollie was predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Megee, grandson, Corey Buchanan, brothers, Gearis and Curtis Weisell, and sister, Charmaine Cole. She is survived by her three children: daughter, Robin Buchanan and husband Louis; daughter, Valerie Farrand and husband Kent; and son, Russell Megee; 3 grandchildren, Brandon Buchanan and wife Vickie, Nick Farrand and wife Marcy, Jill Merritt and husband Dustin; 8 great-grandchildren, Brock & Braeden Buchanan, Raegan, Sophia, Ellason and Ava Buchanan, Kendall & Kenzie Farrand; and one sister, Joice Weisell.
