Obituary

Lois Elaine Sauter was the youngest child of Frank Close and Annie Duffield Close. She was born on her family's farm home near Swanville, MN on November 11, 1924. She passed away July, 11, 2013 after having Alzheimer's disease for many years. She graduated from high school in Swanville. Soon after graduation, she moved to St. Paul, MN where she worked at the IRS office. On June 4th, 1945 she married Rudy G. Sauter in St. Paul. Rudy was on leave before being sent to Japan with the occupation Army. After an eighteen month separation he returned, and they moved to Nampa, ID. Her husband attended Northwest Nazarene College, studying for the ministry, while Lois worked at the Good Samaritan Hospital. They served pastorates in Hurdsfield, Ray, Hillsboro and Regent, ND; Redwood Falls, MN and Crawford, NE. From each community, Lois gained meaningful friendships that lasted throughout her lifetime. They retired in 1986 and moved to Bethany, OK. They were members of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. After Rudy's death in 1997, Lois continued living in their home in Bethany where she was active in church activities. She loved gardening, stamp collecting, genealogy and keeping active with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Verna Christensen, Agnes Zimmerman, Ruth Johnson and Fern Anderson; and her brother, Ellsworth Close. She leaves behind her daughters, Marianne Long and husband Duane, Joanne Wheeler and husband Randy; and son, Roger Sauter and wife Lori. Grandchildren are Walter Wheeler and wife Jennifer, Jennifer Rodriguez and husband Fernando, Michelle Stiger and husband Jeff, Tommy Grayson, Louissa and Andrew Sauter as well as 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 2 pm at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. Interment will be in Bethany Cemetery, 63rd and Rockwell. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Robinson Mission Chapter, Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, 6789 NW 39th, Expressway, Bethany, OK 73008.
