Obituary

Lois Deane Hay was born April 28, 1918 in Leonard, OK to Sterling Rushing and Cora Lee Woodward May. Lois departed this life on January 23, 2011 in Oklahoma City, OK. Lois is survived by son David L. Raney of Oklahoma City, OK, granddaughter Kathy Sue Schluntz of East Hampton, CT; and sister Elwynne Matthews of Oklahoma City, OK. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Colonel John Lewis Hay and son Sonny Glenn Raney, her parents Sterling and Cora Lee May, her brothers William S. May (Uncle Bill), Woodward D. May (Uncle Woody), Phillip E. May, and Robert May, and sisters Ernestine Stafford (Aunt Teenie), Mary Lee Peckum, and Bonita Smith. Other survivors include sisters-in-law Catherine May and Marie May, brother-in-law Bob Matthews and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved and who loved her dearly. Lois loved her family and was very loving and loyal to her brothers and sisters. She loved her friends at Olivet Baptist Church and loved to take her granddaughter there when she visited. Certain colors were made for Lois Aunt Lois pink and Aunt Lois blue. In her younger years, Lois loved to entertain, to make beautiful table settings and to cook delicious meals. Anytime she was responsible to get something done, she wanted to do it beautifully and in order. Services will be Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Mercer Adams Funeral Home located at 3925 N. Asbury in Bethany, Oklahoma. Dr. Steve Kern will officiate. Interment will be at Fort Gibson Friday at 11:00 a.m.
