Lois Allene Stockett Brasher, a long time resident of Bethany, Oklahome was 88 years old when she went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, September the 17th. She was born in Eastland, Texas in 1920. In 1927 her parents, Wiley and Pearl Stockett, moved their family to Bethany to immerse them in the Nazarene educational environment. Lois graduated from Bethany High School in 1939 then attended Bethany Peniel College, now Southern Nazarene University, where she earned a degree in English. It was here that she met Milton, her husband of 50 years. She was very active in her childrens lives acting as PTA President, Brownie Leader and childrens camp counselor. She was a visible presence in her grandchildrens lives attending all concerts, recitals, award presentations or performances. Lois worked at the Federal Aviation Administration for 20 years as a secretarial supervisor receiving numerous honors and awards. Her life centered around her beloved Bethany First Church of the Nazarene and the Homebuilders Sunday school class. One of her greatest joys was preparing and serving food for others with elegance; she hosted many showers, bible studies and prayer breakfasts in her home. She was best known for her homemade bread and her 'funeral dinners' which she and Milton prepared for more than 30 years.
Lois is survived by her three children: Miltonette, John Marvin, and Clara Johnson; her six grandchildren; Johnathon and Amy Brasher of Georgia, and Wesley, Steve, Scott and Cinnamon Johnson of Warr Acres. She is also survived by two sisters, Emma Lincoln and Betty Walker of Mountain Home, Arkansas.
She is preceded in death by her husband Milton (93), all of her brothers: Turner, Bill, Henry, Marvin, Alton, Joe, and John; her sister Kittie Mae Ingle; and an infant granddaughter Amanda Brasher.
