Linda Kay Godfrey, 66, passed away May 3, 2017 in Oklahoma City. Linda was born in Paris, Arkansas to Katie May (Putman) Godfrey and Hayden Godfrey. Linda was happy to welcome her younger brother, Wyley, into the family when she was around two years old. Hayden moved the family to Elk City, Oklahoma, when Linda was eight years old and Wyley was six. Linda grew up in this tight-knit community, eventually graduating from Elk City High School in 1969.Linda left Elk City to pursue her dream of helping others. She attended the Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing in Amarillo, Texas, and graduated with a degree in nursing in May of 1972. Upon graduation Linda procured a job as a Registered Nurse at the hospital in Sayre, Oklahoma. She eventually decided to venture to the city, where she used her nursing skills at Tinker Air Force Base as a civilian employee. Calvary Church of the Nazarene in Bethany, Oklahoma, was blessed to count Linda among its members. Linda enjoyed teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir. Eventually Lindas health issues caused her to retire from nursing, and Linda spent several blessed years with her brother Wyley, and sister-in-law Amelia in California. But Linda longed to return "home" so she packed up and moved back to Oklahoma City, where she resided until her death. Linda is survived by her brother, Wyley and sister-in-law Amelia of El Cajon, California, as well as Amelias two sons. Linda also leaves behind several friends she considered her Oklahoma family. She will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 6:30 in the evening at Calvary Church of the Nazarene, 3100 North Rockwell, Bethany, Oklahoma, 73008.
