Obituary

Linda Louise (Lou) Gentry, 82, of Oklahoma City, passed away Thursday October 22, 2020. Services will be held at 11:00 on Monday, October 26, 2020 at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home in Bethany, OK with John Miller officiating. A graveside service will be held at the Marlow Cemetery at 2:30 in Marlow, OK. Viewing will be Sunday, October 25, 11am-9pm, with family greeting friends from 3-5pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home in Bethany, OK. Lou was born on September 2, 1938 to Curtis and Christine Anthony. She grew up in Marlow and graduated from Marlow High School in 1956. After graduating high school, Lou traveled to Washington D.C. to work for a year. After returning to Marlow, she married her sweetheart, Jim Gentry, on January 30, 1959. After moving back and forth from Woodward, OK, Jim and Lou made their permanent residence in Oklahoma City. They took pride in raising their three daughters, Jan, Jane, and Joan. Lou was a homemaker while her daughters were young. She then went on to primarily work in Land Management for several years. Lou officially retired in 1990 to keep her granddaughter, Corbie. Being a grandmother quickly became her greatest joy. Lou was a natural and devoted caregiver. For many years she cared for Jan, her brother Jack, and lastly Jim. Lou valued friendship and never met a stranger. If you were a friend of hers, you were a friend for life. She had a way of making everyone feel special. Lou is survived by her daughter, Jane Wallis of Yukon; daughter, Joan Jackson and husband, Gary, of Yukon; her grandchildren, Corbie Jackson, Conner Jackson and wife Peyton, Hannah and Curtis Josey; her great-grandsons, Cole and Beckham Jackson; brother, John Anthony and his wife Nancy of Little Rock, AR; and brother, Jim Anthony and wife Beverly of Marlow, OK as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and very close friends. Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Gentry, daughter, Jan Gentry, brother, Jack Anthony, sisters, Mary Clyburn and Betty Woolever, and her parents, Curtis and Christine Anthony. The service will be live-streamed and available to watch on this obituary page. .
