Lillian Dora Wiens Altes was born on January 24, 1922, in Beaver County, Oklahoma, to Jacob Daniel Wiens and Katie Kroeker Wiens. She died on May 23, 2020, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She graduated from high school in Greenough, Oklahoma, in 1939, and attended four years of college in Alva and Bethany, Oklahoma. She lived mostly in small towns in Arkansas and Southeast Kansas, before spending the last forty-two years of her life in the Bethany, Oklahoma area. She was married to T. Altes, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are eleven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her four children, Ron and Jean Altes, Phil and Diane Altes and Sandy Hall, all of the Oklahoma City area, and Pam and Bryan Easum, of Mont Belvieu, Texas, and by nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Lillian was a school teacher, an ordained minister and a homemaker. She worked at the Bethany Bookstore for ten years before it closed. She loved the Lord.
Visitation will be held at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home in Bethany, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 27, 2020. The funeral service will be at the graveside in Bethany Cemetery, at the corner of 63rd Street and Rockwell, at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 28, 2020.
