Lester Lee Papan, age 85, of Bethany, Oklahoma, died May 5th, 2012. He was born on May 15, 1926 in Slovak, Arkansas, and was preceded in death by his parents, Alma Koehn and Rudolph Papan, Sr. Following the premature death of his mother, Lester was raised in Stuttgart, Arkansas by his sweet Aunt Gladys and Paul Koch, with his adoring cousins, Paula Smith and Marty Shoemake. Mr. Papan graduated from Stuttgart High in 1944 where he played football for the Stuttgart Ricebirds and was in the National Honor Society. Mr. Papan proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a Catholic. Mr. Papan began his career in the mortgage loan business with the United Corporation in Little Rock. After moving to Oklahoma, Mr. Papan was in construction sales for the W. G. Best Corporation. Mr. Papan is survived by his daughter, Leslee Papan Brown of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and his son, Curran Conway Papan of Little Rock, Arkansas. He also has three granddaughters, Natalie and Madeline Brown and Kristin Papan, whom he loved dearly and was truly proud of. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Slovak Cemetery, Slovak, Arkansas at a later date.
