Leslie Ellen Downey (Nanny), 56, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at her home in Oklahoma City with her family by her side. Leslie was born October 15, 1956, in Memphis, Tennessee. She began her career at the Federal Aviation Administration in 1981 and retired earlier this year. Leslie was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing large dinners for her family. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her granddaughter, Emma. She truly loved life and lived every moment to its fullest. Leslie was preceded in death by her father, Leo Smith, sister, Terry Rees, mother-in-law, Gertrud Armitage, and granddaughter Camryn Bonds. She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Mike Downey, her mother, Doris Delman, family Todd, Allison, and Emma Bonds, Steven Mitchell Smith, Cathy Korrell, Carolyn Downey, many nieces and nephews, along with many wonderful friends. We wish to thank the Mercy Hospital nursing staff and the wonderful caregivers at Mercy Home Health and Mercy Hospice. We couldn't have done it without you! A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 23, 3:00pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel, 3925 N. Asbury.
