Leo Henry Flaherty passed away on Wednesday December 30, 2020, after a long and rich life spent dedicated to his family and pursuit of happiness. Leos commitment to his family and friends was the driving force of a life well lived and will continue to impact those whose lives he touched.
Leo was born on April 22, 1944 in Lawrence, MA to Leo Henry Flaherty and Eleanor Francis Flaherty. He had one brother, John "Jack" Flaherty. Leo and Jacks father, Leo Henry Flaherty, was killed in WWII during the invasion of France on D-Day and is buried in Normandy, France. Unfortunately, Leo was never to meet his biological father, however, was raised by Raymond Kent as his own son after Eleanor remarried. The family traveled across the country following Raymonds work in construction taking them to several states including New Mexico and finally putting down roots in Oklahoma. Leo graduated from Northeast High School in Oklahoma City, OK where he established life-long relationships that he cherished.
After high school and some collage courses, Leo was drafted into the US Army, serving his country in the Vietnam War. Upon returning from his deployment, Leo relocated to Dallas, TX with some friends and family where he met his ex-wife Pam. He and Pam had two children together: Shannon and Shawn. For Leo, family was everything. He loved spending time with his two children and extended family, and eventually his grandchildren: Grayson, Hayden and Delaney who lit up his life. Trips to the lake, Texas and Colorado are among the many special memories that his family will always hold dear.
Leo worked and owned several different businesses within or supporting the Home Building industry both in Oklahoma and Texas. His passion and creativity for his work was a significant force always keeping him moving forward. His CAN DO and NEVER GIVE UP attitude was inspirational to his family and friends alike. Leo was always going to visit a friend or neighbor and was famous for his humor, which brightened up the day of so many people over the years.
Leo was a one-of-a-kind individual and will be missed dearly by his family and those fortunate to have known him.
Leos life will be celebrated by his family and friends on a date to be determined in the Spring of 2021.
