Obituary

The world became a more beautiful place on the 29th of March, 1924. Lena Alice (Harris) Propps was born to Floyd J and Florence (Paul) Harris in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A lifelong resident of Oklahoma, she was known by many names. Mom, Nana, L.A., daughter, sister and aunt, but her favorite name was NANA. A long and successful career in Long Term Care began in the early 50's with the first convalescent hospital in Oklahoma City. Throughout the years, Lena Alice became more and more involved in the evolution of Oklahoma's Long Term Care industry. She served as an appointee on several boards and committees as the State oversight of Nursing Homes became more and more specialized. Her home reflected many of her vacations with photos and mementos. Her favorite travels were with "The Girls" visiting the Southern States, Northwest, and Canada as well as Europe, Asia and parts of the Middle East. Of all of her travels, she cherished her visit to Rome with an audience with the Pope. Christmas was her favorite season. The family always gathered together at her home. She was very generous all year long, but she celebrated the true meaning of Christmas by giving to even those she did not know. Preceded in death by her son, Floyd Propps, Lena Alice leaves behind her children, Barbara McDaniel and husband Bill of Arlington, Texas, Jack and Linda Propps of Nashville, Tennessee, John and Vicki Propps of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Grandchildren, Susan McRae and husband Bruce, John and Leigh Ellen Baker, Will and Ruth Baker, April Baker, Jack Propps III, Jarred Propps and Nora, Alicen Propps and fianc Chad Powell, Tyler, Ashton, and Colby Propps, Whitney Ford and Brian, Kelsey Phillips and Matt. Her brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Jean Harris. Numerous Great Grandchildren, Dylan & Dawsyn McRae, Jaxon Lake, Jay Propps, Graham Propps, Gracie Phillips, Jacqueline Ford, Mattie, Justin, Destinee, Damien, Jacob,Christian, Caroline and Tony Baker. A forty three year long friendship with Bill W was extremely important to her as she made many lifelong friends who were part of her travel group as well. Lena Alice's family would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to Frontier Hospice for their wonderful care and truly genuine concern for not only our "Nana" but all of us as we made this journey until July 29, 2015 when she went to be with the Lord.
