Lavon Erwin "Mac" McAfee went to be with Jesus on September 9, 2023. He was born on August 27, 1936 in Byars, OK, the only son of Grady and Cera (Griffin) McAfee. His life was filled by sharing Christs love from the time of his childhood conversion into adulthood. The greatest wish he had was that every single person in his family would come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Mac shared his faith with everyone who was close because he wanted everyone to know about the love of God. He is now living what he believed his whole life would exist, an eternal life with Christ.
Mac was married to Rose (Fisher) McAfee for 57 years before her passing in 2015. They were longtime Oklahoma City residents and members of Council Road Baptist Church. Mac later married Barbara Jean Gibbs on December 27, 2019.
Mac attended Oklahoma City University, majoring in accounting. He was a longtime real estate broker/realtor and a nationally certified appraiser. He served as a finance partner for Wright Brothers Construction and was a former Sr. Vice President of First National Bank of Oklahoma City as well as Vice President of Mutual Federal Savings and Loan.
Mac was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Rose. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Kevin (Lynn) McAfee, Karen (Mike) Dodson, and Kappi (Matt) Christensen; stepsons, Bob Gibbs and David (Rebecca) Gibbs; grandchildren, Michael (Lauren) McAfee, Matthew "Bear" (Clytee) McAfee, Kandace (Jerrod) Taylor, Kalan Dodson, Kallie Dodson, Avery Christensen, Rebecca (Josh) Bucholtz, Julia (Brandon) Damore, Rachel (Grant) Hoffman, Lauren Gibbs and Bryson Gibbs; great-grandchildren, Quinn Taylor, Nolan Taylor, Zion McAfee, Zara McAfee, Mitchell Hoffman, Haddon McAfee and Leo Damore; along with a host of relatives, nieces and nephews with the McAfee and Fisher families. The family wishes to thank Dr. Matthew Britt for his loving care and direction throughout their lives.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, September 14 at Council Road Baptist Church. Macs grandsons, Pastors Matthew McAfee and Michael McAfee, and son, Dr. Kevin McAfee will officiate.
