Obituary

Lavina Jean Jones, 91, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma died Monday, December 7, 2009 at Baptist Hospital after a short illness. She was born September 12, 1918 to William Orlie and Mabel Ellen Coffey in Minco, Oklahoma. She graduated Duncan High School in 1936. She worked during WWII at the McDonald Douglas factory which later became Tinker AFB. She met T.J. Jones one day while working in Charlestons Dry Cleaners and in her words I saw those beautiful blue eyes and fell in love. She and T.J. were married March 24, 1946 in Chickasha, Oklahoma and remained faithful to each other for 63 years. They had 3 children, Bobby Glenn, William Allen and Linda Kay. Survivors include her husband, T.J. Jones; son Allen Jones; daughter Linda Jones Payne; and grandchildren Nicholas Allen and Richard Boone Jones and Amy Leigh and Ryan Scott Payne. She was preceded in death by her son Bobby Glenn Jones, and her brothers William Travis and Chancellor Boone Coffey. Jean was the kindest, most gentle soul you could ever hope to meet. She always had a kind word for those around her and had a wonderful sense of humor. She never spoke a bad word of anyone and always spoke up if she heard anyone do so. Jean spent a lifetime caring for family and friends and not once asked for anything in return. Everyone who knew her was truly blessed. Jean, Mom, Granny, we will miss you terribly. Viewing will be Friday, 9am-9pm at Mercer-Adams. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at Mercer-Adams Chapel. Jean will be laid to rest in Gods loving arms at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
