Lavennia Mae
Stucks
Nov 4, 1934 — Feb 23, 2024
Lavennia Mae Stucks, 89, peacefully passed in her sleep to her eternal home on the morning of February 23, 2024 in Oklahoma City. Lavennia was born as the oldest of three children and the only daughter to Frank Calvin and Ludie Mae Dutton on November 4, 1934 in Bradley, OK. This was where her adventure began. In high school, Lavennia loved to sing in the choir, but decided to be more practical with her ambitions. She worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone. Then came her biggest adventures, her sons, 1 by 2 by 1.
In 1970, Lavennia was accepted for a position as a secretary/typist for the US government which led to her moving to Virginia with her four sons. Her positions included working at the Naval Annex as well as managing three military Post Exchanges (PX) and more. During this time, she also guided tours at the Smithsonian.
Lavennia loved to sew and took great pride in it. As the boys grew and started their own lives, her sewing level became professional and even had a few dresses in some fashion shows. When she did retire from the government, it was as a civilian GS-07. In her retirement, she moved back to Oklahoma, this time to Oklahoma City. Her love of sewing became her passion. She continued being a seamstress until she could not do so any longer. Over the last several years, sadly, she slowly declined due to dementia. On the morning of Friday, February 23, 2024, Lavennia Mae woke up in heaven, happy and unburdened.
Lavennia was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Calvin and Ludie Mae Dutton; and brother, Vernon Dutton. She is survived by her son, Raymond Stucks and wife, Diane, of Marshall, TX; son, Steve Stucks and wife, Teri of Oklahoma City, OK; son, Stan Stucks and wife, Christine of Odessa, TX; son, Bryce Stucks and wife, Yvette of Shawnee, OK; and brother, Marvin Dutton and wife, Lulane. Lavennia also leaves a legacy of 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren to remember her.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 2 at Mercer-Adams Chapel.
