Obituary

Larry Jay Williamson, 72, was the youngest child born to Loyd and MH Williamson, on January 20, 1950, in Oklahoma City, OK. He passed from his earthly life on Sunday, February 6, 2022. Larry worked for the Oklahoma Department of Tourism Parks and Recreation for thirty years, from which he retired. He was a strong believer in Christ and was a member of the Village Baptist Church for over twenty-five years where he was involved with many ministries. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and MH Williamson; his brother, Tom Williamson; his sister, Evelyn Shultz; two nephews, Tim and Dennis Shultz; and a great-nephew, baby Lloyd Shultz. Larry did not have any biological children of his own, but he played a very important role in helping to raise three. Those include Michelle Douglas and Mike of Ardmore, OK, grandchildren, Amalia, Blayke, Braden, Patrick and Elizabeth, and great-grandchildren, Kaybrynn, Spencer and Emmett; Craig and Michele Abbott of Oklahoma City, OK, and grandchildren Devin, Brianne and Jase; and Carla and Ryan Young of Oklahoma City, OK, and grandchildren, Kelli, Kenzie and Cason. Other survivors include nieces and nephews, Monica, Jimmy, LeAndra, Jeff, Stephanie, Tracie, Sherri, Lanora, Patrick, and their spouses; and numerous great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-niece. Larry loved spending time with family and had four other special names besides "dad." He grew up being called "LJay," "dad," "qwanpa Wawy," "grandpa" and "Wadi." Larry liked spending time with his best friend, Carol Wagner, and her three kids, Laurie, Shane, and Scott. Larry loved the idea of traveling. While working, he covered every state park and lake from border to border across Oklahoma. Later in life, he was able to travel out of Oklahoma with his best friend, Mindy Price. Some of their trips were a Fall Foliage Tour to the Northeastern United States, Canada, Niagara Falls, Boston, New York City, Vermont, Connecticut, Gettysburg and even Israel. Larry was loved and respected by many and will be extremely missed by all. . Memorial Service Village Baptist Church Sunday, February 20, 2022 2:00 PM 10600 N. May Avenue Oklahoma City, OK 73120
