Larry Allen Henderson passed from this life into the presence of his Lord on February 4, 2017. He was born July 5, 1933 in Texarkana, Arkansas, son of Woodson Perry and Blanch Sapaugh Henderson.
Larry married his beloved wife, Connie, in June 1953, in Bethany, Oklahoma, a marriage that would flourish for almost 64 years. Larry is survived by his wife; his daughter, Cathy Wedel; his son-in-law Rev. Harold Wedel; his two granddaughters, Christine (Justin) Raney and Lauren Hutchings; and his precious great-granddaughter, Casslyn Raney. Other survivors include sister-in-law, Nedra Mallow; brothers-in-law, Lane (Pat) Johnson, James (Jessica) Jackson and Ron (Sarah) Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
Larry served in the U.S. Army from January 1954 to January 1956; his last months of Army duty were in Korea after the war ended. Larry felt the call of God early in his youth subsequently serving 38 years as a Nazarene minister. He pastored churches in Oklahoma and Texas and the last 20 years of his ministry were bi-vocational as he also worked for the U.S. Post Office. He was active in the Association of Retired Ministers and Missionaries.
He cherished each day of his life and often was heard to say, "The Lord is my Shepherd, what more could I need" Larry loved his family deeply. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, neighbor and friend. Likewise, he loved his Church and the Fellowship SS Class. He had a shepherds heart, he never spoke ill of anyone, he never met a person he didnt like, and he always saw the good in everyone.
Viewing will be Tuesday, 9am to 9pm, with family present 6pm to 8pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, 3925 North Asbury Avenue, Bethany, Oklahoma 73008. Funeral services will be held at Mercer-Adams Chapel on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Bethany Cemetery at NW 63rd and Rockwell.
