L W BISHOP JR: 12/28/1931 11/28/2014. Survivors include Beth, his wife; children: L. Janie Mitchell & Alan, Dr. David K. Bishop granddaughters: Erika Mitchell-DeLuca & Mattie Marie Bishop; great-grandsons: Tyler Mitchell DeLuca & Michael Giovanni DeLuca; as well as many loving & loyal extended family members & friends from here to there. Born in Comanche, OK, he attended school there, graduating with the Class of 1949. He attended Oklahoma A&M (OSU) 1949-1951 and 1958-1960 Hardin Simmons University, Abilene, TX. He was employed with Halliburton Service initially in West Texas & in 1964 transferred to Research & Development Lab in Duncan, OK. After more than 35 years, he retired from the Flying H- the Red & Grey. His career also included employment with Plainsmen Chemical, Marlow, OK and, for the past 12 years, he continued working for Bachman Service, an Innospec Company, continuing to test, develop, implement his findings, and share his vast wealth of knowledge & experience. He continued to search for knowledge and understanding each day and, at the time of his passing, he had his cell phone in his shirt pocket or firmly planted in his left hand. His greatest goal was always to be available for questions, support, assistance, prayer, friendly conversation or urgent educated decision, accepting any challenge to enhance the caller's situation and to be a blessing to family, friends, and professional contacts at any hour. LW loved the Lord. As an ordained minister, he officiated many services for numerous family members and friends through the years. His love of the Lord, and his intense effort in preserving & sharing the gospel, extended beyond his family, friends, the oilfield, and included his farming career. Today his farm includes 2 acres of named IRIS. He loved cultivating & caring for the life of others and his farmland, whatever the product at hand. Funeral Service will be Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Mercer Adams Chapel, 3925 N. Asbury Ave, Bethany, OK. Please join the family as we celebrate his life & his final destination: Heaven! Recently he said, "My first words to my Heavenly Father will be, Thank You!" In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his honor to the charity of your choice or to Council Road Baptist Church, Bethany, OK.
