Obituary

Kyle Grant Payne passed away on December 29, 2023, at the age of 61 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, after a courageous battle with long Covid. Born on August 29, 1962, in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Kyle graduated from Putnam City High School in 1980 and soon after embarked on a career that would span several decades in various trades in the oil and gas industry. He also worked as a certified sprinkler system pipefitter for twenty years.

An avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman, Kyle found solace and joy in the great outdoors. Family, friends and acquaintances share fond memories of hunting or fishing with Kyle. His love for the outdoors was only surpassed by his passion for motorcycles of all types. From Honda dirt bikes to Harley street bikes, he enjoyed riding for most of his life.

Kyle was a very social person with a personality that allowed him to quickly form friendships with nearly everyone he met, making it seem there were no strangers in his life, only friends. Oh, the stories…he always had a story to tell.

Kyle's life was enriched by his loving family. He leaves behind his devoted mother and stepfather, Eva and John Bumpus; cherished son, Zakary Payne and fiancée Kayleigh McWethy; stepson Austin Hewin; step-grandchildren, Bradley Hewin, Brooks Hewin, and Breckin Hewin; ex-wife and good friend, Brandi Chambers; one brother, Michael & Amy Payne, stepbrothers, Bill & Angela Bumpus and Greg Bumpus; Nephews, Ethan Payne, Jack Payne, John Houston Bumpus and Benjamin Bumpus; nieces, Ashley Knox, Taylor Bumpus and Madison Bumpus along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Kyle was preceded in death by his father, Julian Payne and nephew, Will Bumpus. Kyle's presence as a son, proud father, and loyal brother will be deeply missed.

As we bid farewell to Kyle, we celebrate a life lived with passion and purpose. His spirit, characterized by his love for his family, his work, and his hobbies, will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him. Kyle's legacy is one of God's love, camaraderie with friends and family, and the indomitable spirit of a life well-lived.
