Obituary

Kenneth Weldon Sneed was born in Ft Chadbourne, TX, to Thomas Jefferson and Fannie Aletha (Moore) Sneed. He grew up on the farm in the Blackwell and Bronte, TX areas. He moved to Ft. Worth from San Angelo, TX in 1943 to work on the assembly line at Convair, building B-24s. On September 5, 1943, at the age of 17, Kenneth was diagnosed with infantile paralysis, now known as polio. He remained in the hospital until April 12, 1944. While in the hospital he was visited by the Vocational Rehab Division of the Dept. of Education. He was encouraged to consider jewelry manufacturing as a possible career as it would not be affected by his handicap. Thus began an almost six decade long career of jewelry manufacturing. Kenneth began his career in Texas at the Pinkerton Co. and his brothers store, Sneeds Jewelry. He eventually moved his family to OKC in 1962, accepting a position at Rosenfield Jewelers. Throughout his career he worked for several of OKCs finest jewelers. He was also self-employed for many years. Kenneth came to know Christ as his Savior at Lake Drive Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, TX, in his 20s. He met his future wife, Margie, at this church. Kenneth and Margie made it a point to raise their family in local churches where they lived. On Friday, March 13, 1959, Kenneth married Margie Koepf at their pastors home in Ft. Worth, TX. To this union three children were born: Aletha, Weldon and Tom. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mabel, Thomas and Austin; parents-in-law, Benton and Ina Ruth Koepf; his son, Weldon; and many extended family. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margie; children, Aletha and husband Gary, Weldons wife Sandra, and Tom and wife Polly; grandchildren, Benton (Kristin), Katie (Shane), Linde (Mitch), Kyle, Tallie (Jackson), Rebekah (Michael), Kayla (Chris) and Phillip; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way.
