Kenneth Lee Mitchell (Ken) peacefully passed on to be with the Lord on May 12, 2017. Ken is remembered as a husband, father, provider for his family and the best kind of brother. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska on March 28, 1939 and was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1960 to 1963. During his service in the Air Force, Ken married his sweetheart, Sharon Warner, on December 1, 1962. After being honorably discharged, he became an Air Traffic Controller. He moved his family to Oklahoma and, after a distinguished career, retired in 1999 as an instructor at the Federal Aviation Administrations Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City. Ken enjoyed his family, traveling, photography and a longtime and luck filled hobby of sweepstaking. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Ken is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon, daughter Christine Carpenter and husband Kevin with grandson Brian and granddaughter Brooke, daughter Sandy Gatz and husband Tim with grandsons Dillon and Trace and a great granddaughter Kaiya, and one son, Steve. He is also survived by sisters Eileen Rhoads, Janet Kudera and husband Ray, Joan Clymens, Sharon Andersen and husband Dave, and brother Denny Mitchell and wife Sandy. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ruth (Wright) Mitchell.
