Obituary

Ken, 89, passed away in his home on Sept. 6, 2015. Ken was born to Chester & Eleanor Gibbons in Banes, Cuba. He came by boat to the US through NY harbor at the age of 11, and lived in the Boston area where his father was born until he entered the Army Air Force towards the end of WWII. Following the war, Ken graduated from Ohio Wesleyan where he met his first wife, Nannette Mollett. He hitchhiked to Kansas where he worked for Schlumberger as an engineer. Ken then came to Oklahoma to get his Master's Degree at OU. Ken and Nan had 2 children, Laurie & Michael. He spent a few years working for oil companies & then spent the rest of his life as an independent geologist. Ken met his second wife of 42 years, Linda, on the elevator of the former Liberty Bank building (now City Place) where they worked until forming KEG Oil, Inc. Ken adopted Linda's daughters, Heather & Marnie, and together they had Kevin. He passed on his tremendous work ethic, love of reading & sports to his children & grandchildren. He was a mentor to young geologist just coming out of college. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and 3 brothers & 1 sister. In addition to his wife, Linda, & his children, Ken is survived by 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren & many nieces & nephews. Services will be at 2:00, Friday, Sept. 11, 2015 at Mercer-Adams Funeral Chapel. Ken's love of family & dry sense of humor will be greatly missed. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Samaritan's Purse Ministries. A quote from Charles Stanley's devotional for the day Ken died: "God doesn't require us to have perfect lives in order to finish strong. We can live abundantly and be ready to meet our Maker by surrendering, walking victoriously with Christ, and serving others." Ken was a good and faithful servant. Funeral Service Friday, September 11, 2015 02:00 PM Mercer-Adams Chapel 3925 N. Asbury Bethany, OK 73008
